The issues that we and our
loved ones face as we advance in years can be difficult and
confusing. So many voices, coming from so many different
motives, call out to us. Where can we turn for reliable,
straight talk from the heart?
There are many sources of information: the library, the
internet, radio, and TV. But who has the time and the
background to sift through it all and pick out what will be
truly valuable and helpful? Wouldn’t it be great to have a
place to go for information that doesn’t come with a hidden
agenda or a sales pitch?
This website works hand in hand with a weekly radio show that
is dedicated to one of the most precious resources in our
community—our kupuna (elders). Scott
Makuakane, the host of the radio show and author of the
content on this site, is a local lawyer whose practice has
emphasized estate planning and estate administration since
1983.
Our goal is to provide information that will assist kupuna and
their families in making wise decisions about such things as
the possibility of becoming disabled, finding sources to pay
for care and living expenses, and preparing for the two
certainties: death and taxes.
